In all "Bulgarian" villages visited during the first terrain research there were evidences and traces of church buildings, but only in Necipköy (Novo Selo) the scientific crew stumbled upon some real remains still standing. Exactly as everywhere else the church had been used as a material for the construction of the new mosque, but here the new building had been erected over the solid foundations of the Christian temple, still quite visible. The church yard with its tick wall, built by the Bulgarians has not changed much during the last 90 years. Many stones from the church are scattered across the yard. The mosque here was in use until 6-7 years ago, when a new one had been erected. One of the reasons for this (maybe the most important one) was the passion towards treasure hunting of the locals and their notion that the now legendary Papaz Manol hid all his possessions in the foundations of the building. Short video from the visit to the remains of St. Peter church is available HERE.
